Milwaukee PSI Reports

Although presentence investigation reports (PSI) are part of the court record, because they are confidential documents, some counties may not send them to you without a court order. In Milwaukee, pursuant to a standing order of the Chief Judge of the circuit courts, the Department of Corrections, (not the clerk of courts,) will send postconviction counsel appointed by the Public Defender a copy of the PSI upon receipt of a request which includes the case and agent identifying information along with the order appointing counsel. Specific information on how to obtain the PSI for Milwaukee cases is provided in Part II (F)(2) of the Appellate Practice Outline available on the Public Defender Website. Any questions or problems regarding this procedure should be brought to the attention of the First Assistant in the Milwaukee Appellate Office.
