
Salary: Start at $16.338 per hour; plus excellent State of Wisconsin benefits.
Job Duties: Utilize a microcomputer to transcribe legal documents and office correspondence from dictation and/or hand-written drafts; maintain case files using provided software; assign cases to private attorneys; evaluate client eligibility for Public Defender representation; perform receptionist duties; maintain general office files and records; prepare monthly reports.
Qualifications: Knowledge of office procedures/practice and legal terminology, effective skills in: proofreading; computer word processing and formatting; oral, written and interpersonal communications; and secretarial duties and responsibilities. Rapid and accurate keyboarding skills are essential. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database software is a plus. Some vacancies may require the ability to lift 25 lbs. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
